Using multiple language views in Shopify is not easier

Mitme keelse Shopify e-poe pidamine ja tõlkimine muutus lihtsamaks

Shopify is continuously adding functionality that facilitates online sales across countries and is gradually moving towards a more global software. While Shopify previously focused mainly on the English-speaking community and supported running an online store in one language, now long-planned innovations are being added.

Although several apps offering e-commerce translation have been available in the Shopify app store for years, they lacked architectural support for Shopify's software. The translation modules worked very differently and constantly caused conflicts with other apps.

At the end of 2019, a Shopify update was released, which also determined the software direction for ensuring multilingualism in the e-store. All translation apps must use the URL language code parameter (for example www.minupood.ee/lv, www.minupood.ee/fi, etc.). Currently, Shopify itself recommends use specific translation apps.

It is not yet possible to use multiple domains in one Shopify installation, meaning you cannot use one domain for the Estonian language view and another domain for the Finnish language view in one e-store. In this case, Estonian could be the main language view (www.minupood.ee) and Finnish could be the additional language view (www.minupood.ee/fi).
